We recently used LeShuttle for our UK to Luxemburg road trip and I wanted to highlight some of the differences I saw compared to taking a ferry.
- Upon arriving you check-in at an kiosk that prints a token for our car.
- You then drive to a service station to wait for your call. You have Burger King, Starbucks and other vendor providing service. There is a huge screen showing your approximate calling time.
- Once called, you drive towards the immigration line.
- Then you drive to another place where you wait to board.
- Finally, you get on a train which takes you to Calais via a tunnel under the English Channel.
Overall, the whole thing felt more technologically advanced then the ferry. The service station where we waited for our call relaxed the experience. On Ferry, we had to stay in our car all the time, no matter how big the immigration line was. Here, they managed to stagger that efficiently.
